Husband Viktor Panov: Portrayed by Mikhail Pshenichny (Михаил Пшеничный) M/F wife Nadezhda (Nadya): Portrayed by Marina Mitrofanova (Марина Митрофанова), thrashing with his belt, position of bent over a counter.

Viktor gives her an important assignment: go to an antique shop and pick up an expensive malachite desk set reserved for his boss, Vasily Pavlovich. He emphasizes that the item is held only until 12:00 PM and she must not be late.

Before Nadya can leave, an elderly neighbor, Asya Petrovna, knocks on her door in panic and tears—her purse containing her phone, cash, and pension card was stolen, leaving her unable to pay for vital prescription medication.

Compassionate Nadya helps Asya block the card at the bank, gives her money, and rushes to borrow cash from her mother. Consequently, she arrives at the antique shop past noon. The clerk informs her the malachite set has already been sold to another buyer.

Viktor arrives home at night. Nadya has set a romantic candlelit dinner table to break the news gently. Realizing she failed, Viktor sweeps the entire table setting onto the floor, smashing plates and glassware.

Viktor grabs her violently by the neck, demanding an explanation. Nadya confesses she was delayed helping their elderly neighbor. Viktor dismisses the neighbor with cold contempt and asserts his dominance: "Disobedience must be punished. Do you agree?" Nadya weeps and pleads guilty.

Viktor retrieves a wooden kitchen spoon, drops it on the counter in front of Nadya, and commands: "Take it... This is so you don't scream."

He takes off his leather belt and remarks: "Birch rods would, of course, be more effective, but where would one find them now?"

Viktor forces Nadya face down over the counter and starts hit her with the belt.

After the corporal punishment, Viktor drives off to buy a lavish piece of jewelry.

In the end, her neighbor Asya Petrovna tries to convince her to run away from him, but she tells her that she loves him.
