Sóng Gió Mẹ Chồng, Stormy Mother-in-law, Episode 5.

That is from a web series called Sóng Gió Mẹ Chồng, Stormy Mother-in-law, Episode 5. (Vietnam 2024) Grandma, family matriarch F/f granddaughter Bé Thỏ, smacking with her hand on the buttocks, position of standing, in the presence of the girl's daddy, who is the grandmother's son, and the grandmother's daughter, who is the aunt of the girl being punished, at home, tears.

The grandma attempts to force the young girl to eat by reprimanding her and delivering a few smacks on her butt. When the father tries to intervene on his daughter's behalf, the grandmother sternly commands him to sit down, asserting her absolute authority over her grandchild's upbringing. She then issues an ultimatum: either the child finishes her meal immediately, or she will be locked inside a dark room with the boogeyman. When the crying girl tearfully refuses, the grandmother grabs her arm to drag her into the room.

The girl's mother (daughter-in-law) steps in, shields her daughter, and confronts the grandmother, arguing that such obsolete methods have no place in modern parenting. The grandmother defends her actions by citing the traditional Vietnamese proverb „Thương cho roi cho vọt“ ("Spare the rod, spoil the child"), claiming that strict discipline is essential for raising responsible adults. The mother counters that physical intimidation creates long-lasting psychological trauma, pointing to her timid husband as proof of how such authoritarian parenting suppresses a child's confidence. The argument escalates until the father stops the conflict and takes the child upstairs.

Later in the episode, there is a hint of a switching, but unfortunately, not on the bottom.
