Soul Buddyz, Season 1., Episode 1. Pilot

 It is from the TV Series called Soul Buddyz, Season 1., Episode 1. Pilot (South Africa 2000) Teacher Mr. Tshabalala M/m pupil Siyabonga (Siya), hard hitting with a cane on his bum, position of bent over the teacher's desk, in an otherwise empty classroom, off-screen. Two of his classmates secretly listen to the sounds of the caning from behind the classroom door and peek at the scene through the keyhole.

Mr. Tshabalala is a strict and authoritarian primary school teacher who unwaveringly believes that young boys only understand one language: the cane.

Siyabonga (Siya) is an innocent boy of about 10–11 years old, experiencing his very first day at a new city school in Johannesburg.

Siyabonga broke two core school rules on his first day: fighting and being late for class.

But in reality, Siyabonga was completely innocent. During recess, he was bullied and ambushed by an older gang of boys (led by Melusi), who stole his lunch and knocked him to the ground. Siyabonga only tried to defend himself and ended up with a bleeding cut on his temple. Confused and shaken, he rushed through the school corridors to find his classroom, which caused him to arrive late. Mr. Tshabalala refused to hear any explanation and immediately ordered him to stay behind for punishment.

When the bell rings, Mr. Tshabalala dismisses the rest of the class for break but orders Siyabonga to stay behind. Outside, two curious boys linger and peek through the keyhole of the classroom door. They watch in anticipation as Mr. Tshabalala retrieves his cane.

As the boys outside whisper nervously about whether Siyabonga is crying, the sharp crack of the cane striking the boy echoes through the door. Horrified, the eavesdropping pupils remark on how hard Tshabalala hits and quickly walk away.

Immediately afterward, we see Siyabonga crying, hiding in shame inside a dark storage alcove in the corridor, where he is eventually discovered and comforted by his sister Zandi and her friend Jerome.
