They are punished for engaging in a fistfight behind the school on the sports courts.

The root of the fight is earlier in the cafeteria, Ding cut the line and bullied younger students (including Nam), claiming basketball players hold top privileges at school. Shone stepped in and bought sodas for Nam and her friends. Later, behind the school, Ding taunted Shone about his father—bringing up how Shone’s dad famously missed a crucial penalty kick in soccer that cost their town the National Championship, calling him a loser.
