Le grand chemin aka The Grand Highway

The scenes are from the film called Le grand chemin aka The Grand Highway (France 1987) 1. Priest M/m Louis, two playful light taps with his hand on the ass, position of standing, in front of his female friend Martine, on a dusty village road.

He gives two gently spanks Louis in a warm, fatherly manner. The priest asks him why he missed mass the previous day. Louis replies that Pelo took him fishing. The priest ask him: "And will you save your soul by catching sunfish?"

2. Pelo M/m Louis, a single gentle tap with his hand on the bottom, position of standing, in the garden in front of the outhouse, playfully.

Pelo (the local carpenter hosting Louis for the summer, acting as a warm surrogate father figure) gives Louis a light friendly, conspiratorial tap as the boy steps out of the outhouse.

It’s an affectionate, masculine gesture of solidarity. Louis just spent an hour in the outhouse with a stomach ache after eating unripe apples and tearing his pants while showing off for Martine. Pelo playfully teases him about the perils of trying to impress girls. He tells him: "That'll teach you to show off in front of girls! Careful, or they'll hook you!".

3. Spoken word. The woman Marcelle threatens Louis.

Marcelle steps into the courtyard carrying an afternoon snack for Louis. She says: "Your snack's ready, Louis!" - only to discover in shock that the rabbit hutches are wide open and the animals are scattering across the yard. Angry, she shoves one rabbit back into a cage and runs out into the lane, convinced that Louis is hiding in the bushes along the roadside. Shouting into the hedges, she yells:

"Come out! I know you're hiding in there! Come out, or I'll go buy a whip at Morin's, and things will get ugly!"

Unbeknownst to her, Louis isn't in the bushes at all—in his distress, he has fled all the way to the top of the village church roof.

Claire lives in Paris and is in the late stages of pregnancy. After being abandoned by her husband, she finds herself unable to care for nine-year-old son Louis while going into labor at the maternity clinic. She brings Louis to the countryside to stay for three weeks with her closest childhood friend.

Marcelle is Claire’s long-time friend who lives in the village with her husband, Pelo, a carpenter. The couple is childless because their only baby, Jean-Pierre, tragically died around childbirth years ago. This unresolved trauma heavily strains their marriage and explains Marcelle’s complex personality—she can be bitter, harsh, and overprotective, yet she deeply longs for a child of her own.

Louis is simply staying with Marcelle and Pelo as a temporary guest for the summer. At the end of the movie, his real mother, Claire, returns to the village with Louis's newborn baby brother, Michel, to take him back home.
