In their traditional community, this premarital intimacy is a massive disgrace. Worse yet for Saraphi, it threatens her social-climbing plans to marry Thawin, the wealthy son of the district magistrate.

When Saraphi arrives home in a panic, Loi shows up to explain himself. Saraphi violently lashes out at him, but Loi insists he would never leak their secret.

Realizing only one other person knew about their night together, Saraphi zeroes in on Kamlai, who is quietly standing in the room. In a desperate move to save face, Saraphi falsely accuses Kamlai of spreading the rumor out of jealousy to keep Loi for herself.

Blinded by rage and family pride, the father takes Saraphi’s side without asking for a shred of proof. Believing Kamlai deliberately dragged the family name through the mud, he decides to teach her a harsh physical lesson.

Saraphi eggs their father on, telling him to hit her even harder.

After taking multiple painful lashes, Kamlai does the unthinkable: she grabs the bamboo cane with both hands and refuses to let go. Looking straight into her father’s eyes through her tears, she delivers a heartbreaking defense: Whenever she did wrong in the past—big or small—she always accepted her canings without a word, knowing her father did it out of care. But this time, she is completely innocent.

Although Kamlai is secretly in love with Loi, she keeps her feelings to herself, doesn't try to steal him from her sister, and fully respects their relationship.

Stunned and infuriated by her defiance, the father yanks the stick out of her grip and strikes her down. Before he can continue, Loi throws his body over Kamlai to shield her, while the mother rushes forward, physically restraining her husband and shouting that she now believes Kamlai didn't do it.
