Собибор, Sobibor

 These are from the film called Собибор, Sobibor (Russia, Germany, Lithuania 2018) 1. The camp commandant SS-Oberscharführer Karl Frenzel M/M Jewish prisoner Haim, whipping with a belt, position of bent over, in the presence of other involved people. The impacts of the belt are not seen.

The prisoner found a luxury leather wallet (Chanel brand) among the confiscated items from a transport from Paris. Frenzel, pleased with the find, offers the prisoner cognac as a seemingly reward. The prisoner politely refuses, explaining that his Jewish faith forbids him from drinking alcohol.

Frenzel takes this refusal as a personal insult, defiance, and an act of disobedience. He orders the prisoner to pull down his pants and receive 25 lashes with a belt.

To complete the degradation, Frenzel forces the prisoner to count each strike out loud. Whenever the prisoner loses count due to pain, fails to speak, or whenever Frenzel decides, he is forced to start counting from one again. The scene demonstrates an attempt to break the prisoner's faith and human dignity.

Frenzel cruelly mocks Haim's faith and Jewish identity. In this scene, he addresses him as 'Whipped-Ass!', directly referencing the previous beating.

This long and terrifying sequence depicts an SS officers' party where they, bored and drunk, find cruel amusement in the total dehumanization of the prisoners.

They hold human horse races there. Prisoners are forced to crawl on all fours (sometimes with sacks on their backs) or pull carts while SS officers whip them and ride them like horses. Frenzel even announces a contest where anyone who can beat him in a race will win a case of cognac — a cynical joke given the prisoners' starvation and weakness.
