逐玉 aka Pursuit of Jade, Episode 20.

However, Sui Yuanqing coldly ignores her pleas and orders her to be beaten.

Spilling the tea was merely a catalyst. The real reason for the brutal punishment was Sui Yuanqing's need to demonstrate absolute power, to shatter the mother's attempt to protect her son with the illusion of a 'heroic father', and to sadistically break the psyche of the young boy, who is forced to hear his mother's suffering while repeating a rehearsed phrase about his father's heroism. It is a scene that perfectly exposes his psychopathy.
