大红灯笼高高挂 Raise the Red Lantern, Episode 21.

Xi'er is forced to kneel in the center of the hall before the gathered family. 

The reason for this severe punishment is her unsanctioned pregnancy, which is viewed as a massive disgrace to the family name and a direct violation of the strict household order. Master Chen is furious because Xi'er stubbornly refuses to reveal the identity of the father, thereby protecting the man involved.

The first wife tries to defuse the situation, noting that Xi'er has always been a well-behaved girl, wondering why she would rather endure the blows than reveal the man. The Second Wife, however, spitefully remarks that the women in this house clearly love to seduce men, which the First Wife sharply rebukes. The first wife then begs her husband on her knees to stop the whacking.

Finally, the master's eldest son, Chen Feipu, bursts into the hall. He shouts at his father to stop, falsely claiming in front of everyone that he is the child's father, and cries out, 'Father, stop beating her!' The scene ends with Feipu turning back to his father, humbly begging to be punished for his alleged wrongdoing.
