藏香记 aka The Glory of Queen, Episode 18.

However, her life became dramatically complicated when it was revealed that she was involved with another member of the family, Jing Heng. In the eyes of the family elders, this is not just an act of infidelity; it is a dangerous disruption of the family hierarchy and a total disgrace to the entire lineage.

The thrashing was designed to be an example to others. Jing Heng attempted to take all the blame to protect Zhiyao, claiming he forced her into the affair. This only further infuriated the father, who saw the admission as an arrogant mockery of family rules. Finally their grandmother, the family matriarch, decides that Song Zhiyao and Jing Lan must end their marriage to restore the family's honor.
