พ่อ Daddy, Episode 1. เพลงของพ่อ Father's song
These are from the TV Series called พ่อ Daddy, Episode 1. เพลงของพ่อ Father's song (Thailand 1999) 1. Daddy Som M/M teen son Mo, thrashing with a rod, position of standing with his hands crossing over his chest, in a workshop.
During the corporal punishment, the father's rod breaks, and he wants to continue the beating with some other object. At that exact moment, however, Som's best childhood friend, who is also a music teacher and has been secretly teaching his son Mo to play, enters the workshop. He snatches the object out of the father's hands, bringing the whipping to an end.
The reason of the punishment is that Mo directly disobeyed his father's orders and neglected his household duties.
Som had strictly forbidden Mo from playing musical instruments or participating in music competitions.
Mo broke this rule and left the house unattended to practice with his band.
Som asks his son: "Do you know why I have to hit you? Because you defied my orders. I forbade you from playing, didn't I?"
Mo defends his passion: "I don't see anything wrong with playing music. I accept the punishment for leaving the house, but I will never give up music."
Som’s harshness stems from deep trauma. He blames music for the death of his wife (Mo's mother). Som was a professional musician on tour when his wife died of a brain tumor, and he wasn't there to say goodbye. He drinks and tries to suppress Mo’s talent through physical discipline, believing he is protecting his son from the pain and instability of a musician's life.
2. Mother shopkeeper F/m son, striking with a rubber fly-shooing whip, position of standing and walking, in the presence of other people, at a market, mostly off-screen.
She hits him for clumsiness and uselessness regarding their business.
The mother complains that the boy is a burden: "Whatever I tell him to pick up, he drops it. The glasses are broken, the plates are broken, the spoons fall. He never helps earn a living!"
This scene is a crucial turning point for Som’s character development. Som and his friends happen to walk by, and Som intervenes to stop the beating.
Som stops the mother and pleads: "Stop, stop, please don't hit the child!" He even offers to buy her goods if she stops whacking the boy. This is a moment of irony and self-reflection. Som, who previously used physical punishment to stop his own son from playing music, now witnesses of such discipline from an outside perspective.
Something within him changed to such an extent that he ceased to support physical punishment. Thai language and English subtitles https://ok.ru/video/14648808180411 and https://vkvideo.ru/video-229942838_456239757?list=ln-ZPlxiuzrKWyOKAFXez
