Bonanza, Season 9., Episode 18. The Burning Sky
That is from the TV Series called Bonanza, Season 9., Episode 18. The Burning Sky (USA 1968) Stepfather Aaron M/m stepson Bridger, beating with his belt, unknown position, off-screen, tears. There are only heard sounds of the corporal punishment.
The primary reason for the punishment was that the stepson Bridger had formed a friendship with a Native American woman named Moon. Aaron Gore punished the boy for several other reasons too: Associating with Native Americans. Aaron harbors a deep hatred toward them and forbade the boy from having any contact with them.
Giving away his lucky charm: Bridger gave Moon a charm (an indigenous artifact) that he found in a box at home. Aaron considered this the theft of his personal property.
Accepting gifts and teachings: Moon made Bridger a waterwheel and taught him how to track, which Aaron viewed as unacceptable.
Talking back: When Aaron claimed that the Native Americans smelled, Bridger retorted that Moon actually smelled nice, which further enraged Aaron.
Following the whipping, Bridger fled from his stepfather to Moon, declaring that he would never return to him.
Aaron’s hatred, which led to this behaviour, stemmed from his own secret—he was actually a half-breed whose mother was Sioux, a fact he had spent twenty years trying to hide.
