The Great Santini
These are from the drama movie called The Great Santini (USA 1979)
1. Mum Lillian F/F teen daughter Mary Anne, one slap with her hand on the butt, position of standing and walking, at home in the kitchen. Immediately following that single smack, the daughter is holding her bum.
In this moment, Lillian attempts to explain Bull’s erratic and aggressive behavior to her daughter, Mary Anne, suggesting that he is simply nervous and that the children need to learn how to interpret his signals. Mary Anne, known for her sharp wit and cynicism, isn't buying it. She retorts by saying her father’s signals are those of a psychopathic killer.
Lillian immediately gives the single smack her daughter on the backside followed by the line "Shame on you!". The slap is a disciplinary reaction to Mary Anne’s deep disrespect and her refusal to sugarcoat the reality of her father’s abusive nature. It highlights the conflict between a mother trying to maintain family loyalty and a daughter who sees the harsh truth.
2. The youngest son Matthew m/M drunken father Bull, hitting with his fists on he father's backside, position of standing, in the presence of other members of the family, during their fight.
Bull Meechum returns home drunk and full of self-loathing following the tragic death of Toomer (Toomer was the best friend of his eldest son, Ben) and his own failures. He loses control and turns his aggression toward his wife, Lillian.
The scene escalates into a domestic fight when Bull begins to physically assault Lillian. When Bull refuses to let her go, their eldest son, Ben, intervenes to protect his mother, leading to a physical struggle between father and son.
As he watches his dad attacks his mom and fight his brother, Matthew joins the fray. He begins punching his father with his fists while Bull is preoccupied with wrestling Ben.
