Born to Shine, Episode 4.

Later, Yuanyang’s mother criticizes her husband for using the corporal punishment and says he should have talked to the boy instead. The daddy defends his decision, arguing that they live in a world where academic grades determine everything. He says something along the lines of: “We live in a world that judges people by their school grades”. He insists Yuanyang must achieve top results and blames Jason for being a corrupting influence on their son. His mom feels sorry for him when she finds out about it. Yuanyang eventually apologizes and promises not to repeat the mistake.
