Harrow The School on the Hill, Season 1., Episode 2. Settling In

This is from the documentary series called Harrow The School on the Hill, Season 1., Episode 2. Settling In (United Kingdom 2001) Birch, no actually spanking. This scene loosely follows a scene from the first episode of this documentary series.

The school archivist provides the boys with a historical overview and an explanation on the physical punishments formerly practiced at the school.

The topic is introduced during a visit to the school archives. The archivist shows the birch rods as a symbol of the school's past strict discipline. The birch was the traditional instrument of corporal punishment at Harrow.

Birching was officially abolished at the school only in January 1991.

In the past, a boy could be birched for any serious offense, with the last official birching recorded in the archives in 1990. English language and subtitles https://ok.ru/video/11310344309435 and https://vkvideo.ru/video-229942838_456239624?list=ln-ys3lKJre3UqgYtZp3Q
