隋唐演义 aka Heroes in Sui and Tang Dynasties, Episode 42.

After 29 strokes, the condemned warrior Pei Yuanqing is already very weak. His older sister Pei Cuiyu voluntarily steps forward and offers to take the remaining 10 lashes in his place, showing deep sibling loyalty.

Their father, veteran general Pei Renji, then tries to shield his daughter, leading to an emotional chain of family members protecting one another.

The punishment is carried out with heavy long wooden paddles aimed at the buttocks and thighs, performed publicly in front of the entire army – a classic Chinese military tradition that lasted from ancient times until the early 20th century.
