Hillary, who suffers from a mild form of cerebral palsy, stated that her father denied her medical condition and used physical punishments as a means to enforce obedience. Her mother, Hallie, described being under pressure and manipulation in her marriage to Judge Adams, which led her to participate in some of the punishments, though she later expressed regret, stating that she acted out of fear and under the influence of her husband’s authoritarian behavior.

Hillary noted that physical punishments were common and escalated as she grew into adolescence. This particular incident was recorded in 2004, when she was 16 years old, after she decided to document her father’s behavior. She released the video seven years after it was recorded because she felt threatened by her father’s ongoing manipulation and threats, such as withholding financial support and her car. She wanted her father to acknowledge his wrongs and seek help.

Hillary and her mother expressed concerns about the emotional safety of her younger sister, who was 10 years old at the time of the video’s release (2011). Although there was no evidence of physical punishment of the younger sister, Hillary feared she could become a victim of the same pattern of behavior, as her father used similarly humiliating language toward her (e.g., regarding her weight).

The video went viral, garnering nearly 6 million views and sparking widespread outrage. William Adams was temporarily suspended from his position as a judge and faced an investigation. However, according to available information, no criminal charges were filed due to the statute of limitations, as the incident occurred in 2004.

In this context, there is talk of abuse. However, this was not just a normal parental punishment in response to their daughter’s disobedience? She was doing things on the internet that she was expressly forbidden from doing. From the daughter’s side, it was rebellion and disobedience toward her parents. The parents undoubtedly acted correctly. It was Hillary herself who turned it into abuse. She refused to assume the position required during such spankings. In plain terms, she was supposed to present her butt to the disciplinary tools, in this case, belts, and obediently endure the spanking. Instead, she accused her parents of abusing her and, on top of that, began sharing the video on youtube. The video caused outrage because anti-spanking activists convince people of the harmfulness of spanking. And that is the crux of the issue. Humility is repulsive to arrogant people, and along with humility, God Himself is also repulsive to them.
